Rhiannon Lewis, our candidate in the Ashford Town by-election on Thursday 19th June
Rhiannon’s pledges to you
As a young local campaigner, Rhiannon is keen to make an immediate impact as your new councillor after 19th June
SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITY
This is a priority for Rhiannon, working with local schools to expand their provision for pupils with SEND needs.
TACKLING CRIME
Rhiannon will work with the local police to help reduce all crime across Ashford; anti-social behaviour, shoplifting and violence against women and girls.
SPELTHORNE DEBT
Rhiannon will hold to account Spelthorne Conservatives (and other councillors) responsible for the massive debt run up by the previous council. She will not play fast and loose with your council tax.
ADULT GAMING CENTRE
This has now been approved, but Rhiannon will help ensure it does not cause problems in the local area and that all licence conditions are strictly adhered to.
HOUSING
There is a real demand for more social and affordable housing in Ashford and all of Spelthorne. Rhiannon will work with colleagues to reduce the number of families in temporary accommodation and on the housing waiting list.
HMO REGISTRATION
Houses of Multiple Occupancy need to be much better regulated. Labour will clamp down on rogue landlords.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT REORGANISATION
Three unitary authorities in Surrey is Rhiannon’s preferred option, as it will keep the decision making closer to our residents. The Conservative plan for only two unitary authorities is by far the worst option.
